Someone recently asked me what I love about doing permanent jewelry.
Of course, there’s the jewelry itself. The quiet joy of playing—layering textures, blending metals, chasing that just-right stack. It’s creative, tactile, a little bit magical. I can happily lose myself there.
But what I love most are the stories.
I love how we begin as strangers and, somewhere between the clasp and the weld, become something more. We laugh. Sometimes we cry. We celebrate love, friendship, milestones, survival. I get to cheer you on, to witness moments that matter.
Just yesterday, I was booked for a permanent jewelry party for a circle of women in their 60s—best friends since high school. Every month, without fail, they choose each other. A girls’ night. A shared table. A lifetime of memories. I was invited into their January gathering, listening as they traced decades of laughter and life as I helped each of them pick out a chain and a charm. It was so fun that it didn't feel like work! I was in awe of their friendship....this is rare so it was so beautiful to witness.
That’s the beauty of this work.
Tiny pieces of jewelry, holding stories that are anything but small.
